Attorney Profile

Rusty Freeman

For more than 30 years, Rusty Freeman has dedicated his professional life to serving and protecting the people of Alabama. Today, he brings that same commitment to the practice of law, advocating for individuals and families who need someone they can trust to stand up for them.

With deep roots in Northeast Alabama, Rusty has built his career on hard work, integrity, and a genuine desire to help others. His career in law enforcement began with the Glencoe Police Department, where he served his hometown community for 12 years. He later joined the Auburn Police Department before being recruited by the Moody Police Department to work in drug interdiction. Over the next 17 years, Rusty took on increasing responsibilities, ultimately retiring as Assistant Chief of Police.

Throughout his law enforcement career, Rusty learned the importance of listening to people, understanding their circumstances, and standing firm when it matters most. Those experiences shaped his approach to practicing law. He understands that behind every case is a real person, a family, and a story that deserves to be heard.

After three decades of protecting and serving his communities, Rusty continues that mission as an attorney with J Dunn Injury Law. He believes clients deserve more than legal representation — they deserve an advocate who treats them with respect, communicates honestly, and genuinely cares about the outcome of their case.

In addition to practicing law, Rusty works part time as a flight attendant for a major American airline. He shares that passion for serving others with his wife, who is also a flight attendant. Together, they enjoy traveling and meeting people from all walks of life. Through his work in the airline industry, Rusty embraces every opportunity to serve others with hospitality, compassion, and a servant’s heart. His commitment to caring for people extends beyond the courtroom and reflects the same values that have guided him throughout his career.

Outside the office, Rusty is a proud father of five and grandfather of seven. Family is at the center of his life and a constant reminder of why protecting the well-being of others matters. When he’s not working, he enjoys playing golf, kayaking, practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and occasionally taking the microphone for a little karaoke.

Rusty is proud to call Northeast Alabama home and considers it a privilege to continue serving the people and communities that have been such an important part of his life.

“For 30 years, I stood up for people as a law enforcement officer. Today, I have the privilege of standing up for them as their attorney. The mission hasn’t changed — only the way I serve.”
